A perfect small town summer vacation

I grew up in a small town, and while I wouldn’t necessarily want to trade in my big city life to live there again, there is something special about small-town America, especially in the summer. Kid’s riding bikes, fire-pits, cookouts, s’mores and of course – a good, old-fashioned Fourth of July.

You can experience all of this with your family, even if you live in the middle of a big city, you just need to know where to go. Chatham Bars Inn, a wonderful resort in “the elbow” of Cape Cod, is a perfect option. Their unbeatable beach-side location is a great place to relax with a good book and enjoy the ocean. But, if you want a little more activity on your summer vacation, there’s plenty to do.

Chatham Bars Inn ClambakeThe resort has oceanside tennis courts,  a regulation croquet court, and several boats for every type of boating excursion. Not enough for you? How about a clam bake on the beach or an evening around a bonfire roasting marshmallows for s’mores?

Nearby are several golf courses, bike trails and nature walks. The town of Chatham (with less than 7,000 residents) is a short 10 minute walk from the resort. Enjoy evening concerts in the park, snack on popcorn while you watch a baseball game or stroll down Main Street, with it’s family owned shops and restaurants.

You’ll have a great time no matter when you decide to go, but small towns are magic on the Fourth of July. The whole town comes out to enjoy the festivities which begin with a parade in the morning and don’t end until the smoke clears from the evening’s fireworks display.

If you’ve always wanted to experience a small town summer, want to relive childhood memories, or want to let your kids or grandkids experience a little bit of what you enjoyed as a child, give us a call. We’ll work hard to design an experience you’ll all enjoy.

**As of today (February 7th) there are rooms available during the week of July 4th but if you’ve got your heart set on going then call us soon! These dates will sell out quickly. **

Here’s a little taste of the Fourth of July in Chatham.
